The Santa Maria 2024 Science Fair will take place on December 11! Students may complete a scientific investigation or an engineering project. All students are required to complete a project. Students are responsible for completing their investigations and projects at home, on their own time. This project and its supporting work will comprise a large part of the student’s grade this quarter. Failure to complete a project will adversely impact the student’s grade.
In the coming weeks, you may wish to help your child with the construction, experimentation, or research for the project. Your child may also ask for items to construct the project. The student and any partner they may have are responsible for all project materials. Teachers will help students locate materials and implement ideas as much as they can, but students must understand that this is their project and they are responsible for it. Displays must be presented on 48-by-36-inch display boards. See our Science Fair Display Board handout for helpful tips and guidelines for your student’s presentation.
Afterschool science fair tutoring will be available with Miss Irby in room 611 on November 18 and on December 2, 3, and 4. Please see our Science Fair 2024 presentation for additional information, frequently asked questions, and expectations. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s science teacher.
