Clubs & Activities

Extracurricular programs and activities are an excellent way to fully engage in the middle school experience. Join in and become part of the Bulldog machine—you’ve got nothing to lose and plenty to gain!

Music Program

We are honored to have a robust music program at Santa Maria. Our students are committed to giving extra time and being involved outside of the regular school hours, and we enjoy strong support from their teachers and committed parents. Working together helps ensure a positive experience for all. We’re happy to offer the following at SMMS:

Wake-Up

Wake-Up is a community service program sponsored by the Phoenix Police Department. This club meets once a week after school from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. and one Saturday a month. Students enjoy activities such as visiting assisted living care facilities, St. Mary’s Food Bank, or other community organizations, and covering graffiti throughout our community. Students participate in mini classes about helping others, anti-gang participation, and other community-related subjects.

STEM Club (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)

During the year STEM Club members are engaged in science based learning experiences which include but are not limited to coding, online games, robotics, engineering design, challenges, and scientific experimentation. STEM Club meets weekly and we give preference to students who attend on a regular basis.

Summer Extravaganza

Our summer school program is unlike any other in the valley. We focus on academics and enrichment providing a safe environment for students to further their knowledge in the classroom and their abilities in the real world.

Unified Special Olympics Athletics

We’re thrilled to partner with Special Olympics to celebrate these amazing kids. Please see our Athletics page for information about Unified Special Olympic Athletics.
